KIRK FLETCHER & ERIKA BAIER
A BLUES CONNECTION
When Swedish blues singer-songwriter Erika Baier and American guitar virtuoso Kirk Fletcher share a stage, something rare happens: voice and guitar seem to breathe as one. Their partnership is a meeting of two lifelong blues journeys—different roads leading to the same destination, carried by the timeless power of the music.
For Erika, it began in a small town in southern Sweden, digging into her father’s record collection and feeling the spark when she witnessed blues greats live at a local festival. That fire led her to form Erika Baier and the Buzz in 2014, win the Scandinavian Blues Contest with 12 original songs, and release her debut single For Granted (2016) followed by her acclaimed first album How ’bout That (2018). With a string of soulful singles since, Erika has carved out her place as a contemporary blues artist with a voice described by Fletcher as “unique and at the same time deeply rooted in the tradition.” Whether delivering the raw grit of Cold Cold Feeling or the uplifting warmth of Change for the Better, her voice carries an honesty that captivates audiences.
Kirk Fletcher’s path began across the ocean in Bellflower, California, where he learned guitar in his father’s Compton church and absorbed the deep roots of gospel and blues. From there, his career blossomed: touring with Kim Wilson’s Blues Revue, recording on the Grammy-nominated Smokin’ Joint, joining The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and sharing stages with legends like Joe Bonamassa, Cyndi Lauper, and Charlie Musselwhite. His solo work, including Hold On, My Blues Pathway, Heartached by pound and Keep on pushing has earned Billboard chart success and international acclaim, with Guitar World praising his “sweetness and authenticity that screams class.”
Their connection was sealed at the Gothenburg Blues Festival 2022, where mutual respect grew into friendship and, eventually, collaboration. In 2024, Erika invited Kirk to play on her single Complicate. By 2025, Kirk had invited Erika to join him as a special guest on the Joe Bonamassa Blues Cruise—where their chemistry electrified audiences and proved that history was being made in real time.
Today, Kirk Fletcher & Erika Baier stand as kindred spirits in the blues.
